It is now 70 years since Bernd Schwegmann founded the company that is still run under his name today.

As a young man, he started his own business, initially trading in raw materials for the paints and coatings industry. He quickly discovered additives as a market niche for himself. The first additive with the name ANTIGEL was introduced to the market and slowly but steadily developed into a high-turnover product, which we still sell worldwide today. This product was one of the first multifunctional additives of its time and not only served as a viscosity stabilizer, but also improved other properties such as gloss and flow. The product range was expanded, the corrosion protection additive KORRODUR as well as special defoamers such as BLISTER FREE were added, but also screen and filter bags for solid/liquid separation expanded the range for the coatings industry.

Already in the early 60's contacts were established abroad and so today we can proudly refer to a reliable network of sales partners, who have always been and still are an important factor in the development of the Schwegmann company.

In the middle of the 1960s, various testing devices for the paint industry were added, and the company Erichsen, among others, was represented in southern Germany. However, this product area did not last long, only the opacity test cards are still part of our product range today.

With an initially small range of printing aids for offset printing, we then established a second mainstay in the field of specialty chemicals from the end of the 1960s. Over the years, we have been able to establish ourselves as a supplier of high-quality printing chemicals. With our SCHWEGO® soft range of fountain solutions in particular, we are known as a reliable partner to the printing industry.

Finally, our latest product range comprises industrial cleaners for special cleaning tasks in various branches of industry.


Schwegmann has existed as a family business for 70 years and as such we can offer you, our distributors and customers, a high level of individual customer service. Our goal is to offer you "chemistry that fits", which means tailoring our products and service to your needs. In the increasingly regulated chemical industry, this is quite a challenging task, but one that we are happy to take on.

With this in mind, we are particularly looking forward to being able to maintain personal contact with our customers and partners once again after the pandemic has been overcome.
