SCHWEGO® matt 412

Matting agent for paint and coatings

Chemical base: Silica, after-treated
Properties: SCHWEGO matt 412 is a wax after-treated precipitated silica. Paints formulated with SCHWEGO matt 412 obtain excellent surface smoothness. SCHWEGO matt 412 does not contain any nanomaterials as defined in the EU Commission Recommendation of 18 October 2011 on the definition of nanomaterials (2011/696/EU).
Applications: SCHWEGO matt 412 is suitable for unpigmented and pigmented systems. Duo to the excellent suspension behavior SCHWEGO matt 412 is especially suitable for clear coatings.

Processing: SCHWEGO matt 412 can be added to coating formulations in the latter steps of the production process. Post adjustment to the gloss level is possible in the ready paint. Normally, SCHWEGO matt 412 can be dispersed completely in the system with stir speed of 5 – 6 m/s for 10 – 15 minutes.
Storage: SCHWEGO matt 412 should be stored in sealed container in a dry, cool place, and removed from volatile organic substances. SCHWEGO matt 412 is inert and chemical stable. Nevertheless due to the high specific surface area absorption of moisture from the atmosphere is possible. We recommend to use SCHWEGO matt 412 within 24 months after date of manufacture. Subject appropriate storage, the described properties of SCHWEGO matt 412 remain stable for at least 5 years.
